Wesley has been driving a 1999 Jimmy ever since we got Shannon a Honda Pilot when she graduated from high school -- the Jimmy was her first car. It's almost 10:30 where I am, as I write this, so not quite new year's here yet. We are very boring -- pretty much doing what we'd be doing any Thursday night! We did buy fireworks but it's cloudy, foggy and rainy here so it seems sort of pointless to set them off tonight -- we'll probably wait and do them tomorrow when it's suppose to clear up. They were having a thing at our church tonight but we didn't really want to do that either! Man, we are old fogies!!...

It's around 3:00 in the morning and I'm up with a stomach ache of all things! Poor youngest kid has a horrible cold, and the water softener has went ka-put so I can't even relax in a hot bath. After my last post about not liking sports, here is a post about liking them. Last night, at the sport's banquet at Carrie's school, she received the MVP award for volleyball (for the second year in a row). I won't say it wasn't expected because, well, she was the most valuable player. And, while I'm at it, she's number four in her senior class.

Well, hopefully, things can get back to normal a little...I took Carrie to the doctor yesterday because she'd just been sick too long (respiratory, nausea, fatigue -- but no fever). It seems to have just been a virus -- so that's good. She went back to school today and, hopefully, won't have to come home. I'm sure she would have been fine without going to the doc but I just felt better that she was seen -- and she got her flu vaccine and we both (and Mark earlier in the day)...

This is what's going on....

Matt's birthday is this weekend and I am planning a surprise party for him. It's the big 50. I am having to clean like mad and I think I am crazy if I can pull this off.

Work is kinda boring. I am such a people person and you don't get to socialize much cleaning toilets, washing dishes and sweeping floors.

Work is a pain because "still" there is too much to do and and not enough time in 8 hours.

I think I've mentioned somewhere on here that while I was having to tend my ailing mother last week, I also had a sick husband and daughter. Mark is much better (he apparently passed whatever he had along to the people he works closely with) but Carrie seems to be worse -- or, if not worse, then no better. I don't know what she has -- I'm assuming it's what Mark had but it could be something entirely different -- he never did have nausea but people can react to the same...

Mama in the ER

I just got back from spending the morning and part of the afternoon with Mama in the emergency room. She'd been complaining about stomach pain, on and off, since the summer but it seemed to coincide with constipation and got better when she got "relief". Anyway, she called me early this morning -- so I knew something was wrong -- and said she was in a lot of pain. Now, I don't doubt she was having pain but her threshold is very low. Swine Flu?

Wesley just called from Atlanta -- he was in the health clinic, on campus, and they are telling him he has swine flu -- though they did not do a blood test and you can't know for sure unless you do a test. However, he has a 102 temp -- so he has something for sure. They have told him to get some Tamiflu, which he is on his way to do now.

Hey, y'all, we're up at the lake -- been raining the whole time -- which is fine with me since I love a rainy day -- and it's not summer so we aren't getting out on the water anyway.

Went to my favorite antique shop today -- bought several small things which I didn't need!

But...last night, I was eating Fritos (which I shouldn't have been eating!) and I broke a tooth -- ugh -- it's not a front one but one of the "grinders" -- and...

Bernt has a phone interview next Tuesday for a possible one year contract. I'm really nervous for him because it's his first interview in a really long time but he seems nervous/excited because it is in a programing language that he likes working with and it is contract work.

Please, please, please keep him in your prayers that he does well and moves on to the next level which is an in-person interview. We really need this to work out.

Old Man Spencer

Spencer is getting more and more feeble. He's eating well but has started vomiting a lot. He can still walk but is wobbly -- and sometimes, he'll just fall over. I don't know what we are going to do -- are we keeping him here for our sakes -- or his? I think it's for us. We've had a miserable year in the dog department...just pray for us to make the appropriate decision at the appropriate time.
