Horseback riding accident for one of my daughter's friends

Last night, my daughters competed in a horseback riding competition held by the county fair and rodeo. I sent my little one home with my hubby after her events and stayed to work in the arena while my eldest daughter competed. They have an extraordinarily large number of entrants so we were there very late to let everyone registered compete.....2:45 am to be exact. Two families lost loved ones...

It always hits home for me when a family loses a father (or mother) who are close to my own age or who have children the ages of mine.

A young man Wesley went to school with (elementary and middle) lost his father to cancer.

And one of Carrie's volleyball friends lost her father last week. He was 50 and died of a heart attack on a business trip while in California.

This morning, I woke up with a sore throat and I don't feel great (not terrible -- just not up to par). Both Shannon and Carrie had a sore throat last week but it never went beyond that and they got better (thankfully!). I'm figuring I've been stressed enough (though not in a bad way) that my immunity is probably low. Anyway, I hope it doesn't get any worse since we've got to get up early tomorrow to travel to Florida -- I could stay home, if necessary, but, again, I hate...

Uncle Jimmy passed away this afternoon

Mark's Uncle Jimmy died this afternoon around 3 PM. We don't know anything about the arrangements yet. We prayed that he would hold on until after the wedding -- because there was no way we could go anywhere last week. And, even though Shannon was not close to him, I'm glad he didn't die on her wedding day.

Please pray for the weather on June 14! Right now, the forecast says "thunderstorms". If the day is overcast, that would be great -- because it will help with the heat (we've been in the upper 90s for several days) but thunderstorms wouldn't be so wonderful. Anyway, I know the forecast can change at the drop of a hat so who knows? But pray anyway!!

We're working like fiends on our old house trying to get it ready to sell. We cross two things off the list and add 5....gotta start going the other way soon...

One of my husband's close friends and coworkers went in for surgery to correct a hernia. The surgery went well but he developed a blood clot and died two days later. Lee left behind his wife of 4 years and his son age 3.5. We went to the funeral today. Too many funerals to go to lately.

These were some strays that showed up at my work, they are 4 weeks, they will be at my home on the 19th of May approximately. I cannot wait I am very excited to have kitten's again, I haven't had them in 19 years, I am certain I will think they are crazy.

Yesterday was my 45th birthday and all I could think about was that when my daugher is 15 (she is 2 months old now) I will be 60. I just hope that at 60 I will be up to doing all that I will need to for and with her. My son will be in college by that time so I will have done all that stuff with him already. Thankfully I won't have two teenagers at the same time. On the bright side, I come from good stock, my grandfather died at the age of 102 and my mother, who will be 70 this year,...
