For whatever reason, the movie is not seemingly doing well in my area. Maybe we're too close to the DC politicos, maybe we don't have a proportionate dynamic of teenage boys or comic book lovers -I just don't know. It was not shown opening weekend at the cinema-plex nearest my home; it debuted the following Tuesday with 5 showings per day and 6 per day over last weekend. As of Monday, there are only 3 showings per day with no additional showings for this coming weekend. It is also not being shown at the IMAX.

When hubby and I picked up our nieces from the movies on Saturday night, there were only a handful - maybe 18 - of people waiting to go into the late showing. It seemed to be mostly couples in the mid-twenties age range with a few high school kids mixed in. That's not to say more people didn't come in later; I didn't wait around to find out. But it seems to me that if it was getting overwhelmed with viewers, the theatre would add showings and they're actually reducing them.

Again, I have no clue as to the logistics of why this might be happening. I thought that having Dominic West in it could stir up interest as he films 'The Wire' in the area and is pretty beloved here. The comments I've heard from people I know who have seen it have been relatively luke-warm to downright critical with one person saying they only made it through the first 20 minutes and then demanded a refund. No one has said that it was awesome, great or the like. Obviously I don't hang with the right crowd!
