This is not an objective review. Y'all know that my primary reason for seeing "300" was Gerry Butler. As the spiritual and physical embodiment of King Leonidas, he was superb. 300 is quite unlike anything I've seen, and the "telling" of the story held my attention and captivated me. The love scene was framed beautifully, with just enough attention given to the actual act and the nudity was not overdone.
The costumes commanded very little of my attention, having already seen many screencaps, but the movie was gorgeous to watch and should receive recognition for excellent Art Direction, Sound and Gerry's performance is worthy of industry recognition. The nearly naked gorgeous men held very little of my attention (with the exception of the king), however, their physicality supported the beautifully choreographed battle scenes that resembled a ballet. They looked, acted and moved with the single-minded authority of a killing machine, born and bred to do battle and die.
I loved Gerry's accent in this and thought it enhanced his performance. I wouldn't have a problem with my fifteen-year old seeing this.
