Granted, I'm quite removed from it all, but its omnipresent in our media as well. Its probably easier for me to "turn it off" than for you because its not in our daily personal lives. People do not accost me in the street to talk about it or at the supermarket and such.

Having said that, I'm personally very touched by the "historical" point of view of it all. And its in my nature to think of all the changes that happened for some people in your country.

When I was at University, studying History, i had a class in American history, and had made a compared paper on Martin Luther King and Malcom X. I had to read so many books about those troubled times and it seems like although the battle is not over (neither is it in Canada mind you), its a step in the right direction, and hopefully, will be a huge step compared to the countless small ones that have been taken by unknown and not so unknown people.

I also heard something today that made me think again, and gave it all another dimention: it will be easier to see some positive role models for the younger generation. Right now, media is filled with the negative ones.

As for what is expected of Obama as a President, he has already started talking about being realist about the financial situation and that the government can help but cannot be expected to do miracles, nor do them on its own.
