I like my name. I didn't know any Christina's (besides in my family) when I was growing up although there were alot of Christine's, Chrissy's, etc. I was named after one of my great aunt's and my grandmother and I HATE being called Christine. It's not my name and I really don't like people calling me that. My husband will call me Chris sometimes which I don't mind simply because it is him calling me that. I don't think I would change my name simply because I can't think of a name that suits me better...although my dad did want to name me Anastasia but my mom vetoed that idea pretty quick apparently. lol. As for my son Mark, we picked it because it wasn't a dime a dozen name and it couldn't be shortened or made into a kooky nickname. My husband's name, Bernt, is very common in Norway but they moved here when he was 6 so most people try to correct it thinking it's a typo or they think he's dyslexic because they think it should be Brent. He got teased alot in school, being called "burnt toast", toaster, names like that and he hated it. We both liked the name Mark but he was pretty adamant about a name that couldn't have a nickname because of his experiences as a kid. We call him Marky sometimes but for the most part he's just Mark and honestly, it suits him perfectly and I can't imagine him being anything else. If we would have had a girl I really like Isabella and Megan (not together though) but that never happened. Maybe when Mark has kids I can slide them in there for him to consider. LOL!
Also, don't you find there are names you would never name your child simply because someone you dislike has that name even though you like it? For me there are a few but the worst one is Stephen. I like the name and it was on our short list for a while when I was pregnant but every time I heard the name I thought of one of my husband's friends whom I can't stand. Does anyone else have a name like that?
Now porn star names, I'm not sure it would work. I grew up on Adrian and my cats name growing up was Princess. Not very sexy I don't think, even in an implied way. :-D
