WOW!
Fantastic chapter and it sort of reminded me of something that happened to a long time friend of mine. Its one of those real life things that would be considered too sappy sweet even for a Lifetime Movie if I didn't know it to be true.
I have a friend that gave up a child for adoption. She was only 20 at the time and couldn't possibly take care of a child on her own. Sadly, shortly after giving up her baby girl, she was in a horrible car accident that crushed her pelvis and they had to do a hysterectomy. She never forgot her baby girl and made sure that the adoption agency knew that yes, she did want to be contacted if her daughter ever called. Every year she made sure that the agency had the correct contact info. Years went by and every once in a while she would spot a little girl that would make her think of her daughter.
A few days after her daughter's 17th birthday, she received a phone call asking her if she had a few minutes time to talk on the phone. Thinking the caller was a telemarketer, my friend said "Not interested in what your selling." and hung up. The woman called back.
"No, you don't understand, I'm your daughter's adoptive mother, and she would very much like to meet you."
Within a few days my friend and her daughter were reunited. That was 7 years ago.
This past weekend, my friend sat holding hands with her daughter's adoptive mother as they watched their daughter get married.
