Meli, you are right -- though I've failed on occasion, I do try to remember that if I wouldn't say it, then don't type it. However, at the same time, the internet does afford a little freedom to express an opinion in a way you might not be able to by speaking -- for instance, I can formulate what I want to say much better by writing than I can by speaking.

I have learned more about "turning the other cheek" from the internet than I probably have from any other source. Also, that I don't have to weigh-in on everything I read --  on LIS, as an admin, I feel that I should be involved as much as possible but on Facebook or other sites, I have learned to be content to read and not always feel the need to say something.

There are definitely idiots out there but there are also some great people -- like the people I've "met" here -- so, I've learned that idiots and people who actually stop and think are everywhere.

I've learned a lot about other parts of this country and other parts of the world just through conversations here -- which are probably more enlightening that any website I could ever visit or brochure I could read.
