I had a strange room growing up. We had a Cape Cod style with no dormers. My room was upstairs and my walls were tilted. They went up straight to about 3 1/2 ft and then they followed the roof line (diagonal) until about 7 feet of height and then there was a flat patch of ceiling about 5 feet wide. I had one side of the house, my brother had the other. I also had openings in the walls that were access to the 'eaves', which we used for storage. The temps in the eaves would get very high in the Summer. My dolls melted from the heat one year. Anyway, between the strange shapes of the walls and big, black gaping openings in the wall, I was able to scare myself silly at night. I had a wire bookcase and my stuffed animals were scattered over it among my books. I had a pink stuffed dog on top and at night the thing looked like a skull staring down at me. I'd be too scared to move at night, but to dumb to figure out what the shape was during daylight. I think it took about a week before I finally got brave enough to turn on the light and realized it was a stuffed animal.
