I did love "The Sound of Music" but I don't think I ever thought of it as scary but I can certainly see what you mean about the Nazi's
The 'Sound of Music' certainly didn't scare me, but it did make me mad that the Nazis forced them to leave their beautiful home and hike over the Alps (my lazy self was thinking 'ain't no way'!).

We had a Cape Cod style with no dormers.
That reminded me of something; I could see a transformer box out of my window with 2 red lights on it.  Sometimes, I'd wake up and be muzzy-headed and I would think about the pig-demon in 'Amityville Horror'.
