Mark took the minivan over to Firestone today -- he called me when he got there, then Carrie and I went to pick him up -- I drove the F-150 -- Carrie asked me did I know how to drive it?! Yeah, a woman and a her big-ass truck... Anyway, between the time he called me and we got there -- maybe ten minutes, if that -- a couple of men had held up the Churches Fried Chicken across the road -- and fired several shots -- nobody was hit -- I don't guess they were aiming at anybody but I don't know why they were shooting -- just for the hell of it, I guess.
Anyway, Mark said he felt like he should have "done something" -- I said, like what, get yourself killed? I mean if somebody was hurt that's one thing but to "do something" about a guy with a gun who'd just robbed a place...I don't think so...I told him, "if you'd done something and gotten yourself killed, it would have been the worst thing you'd ever done in your whole life..." LOL...I guess there's humor in almost everything.
Times are tough, that's for sure -- I can't imagine stealing or killing...but, then again, we had a recent conversation (in "Blessings and Burdens) about not really knowing what we'd do in any given situation, until it actually happened.
