how do men's minds work? Are they all of the opinion that if a little is good, a lot would be better?
Every other Sunday, we have a contemporary worship at our church. There are several of us who take food (for everybody) -- I usually take sausage biscuits (the mini ones -- like Jimmy Dean) and there's another woman who usually brings doughnut holes. She wasn't going to be there today so I told her I would also get something sweet to bring. My initial thought was that I would make some muffins but we were at the lake yesterday and, by the time we got home, it was late so Mark said he'd go to the grocery store and get the doughnut holes since everybody (especially kids!) like them so much. I had asked the other lady how many she got and she said 4 dozen (2 dozen per container) -- and that she got them at Kroger where they were two (containers) for $5 or something like that.
Well, what Mark came home with was five containers that have way more than two dozen in them -- and, not only that, but he bought two (one dozen each) boxes of regular doughnuts. When he walked in, I just looked at him like what in the world? And he said he wasn't sure how many were in each box and wanted to make sure there was enough. Well, it's way more than enough. I don't want them so there's nothing to do but take them all -- but when the other lady brings them next time, she's not going to get that many so I wonder if this is going to raise expectations -- I've never been able to get Mark to understand that sometimes, when you do more than others do, it can make them feel like they can't do enough.
At any rate, I have two huge bowls of doughnut holes, 24 regular doughnuts -- and sausage biscuits...now, it could be, because it's 9/11, that there will be more people attending this morning...but, whatever's left over, Mark will have to take to the office tomorrow because, though I don't have a huge sweet-tooth, doughnuts -- and their holes -- call to me...
And, by the way, even if I'd been with Mark, he would have insisted that we get more than we needed...
So, do you have a spouse/SO/relative like this?
